Atty. Karla Regina D. Valera-Chua is a Partner with over ten years of experience in litigation and dispute resolution. Her fields of expertise include civil, commercial and criminal litigation, including family law, probate and intestate proceedings, appellate practice, insolvency and corporate rehabilitation, anti-graft and corrupt practices, government procurement law and election law.
Karla’s achievements as a litigator include twin dismissals and an acquittal in the Sandiganbayan against a client charged with several counts of graft and corrupt practices in several cases, as well as the approval of the rehabilitation plan for a corporation involving claims worth more than US$1.5 Billion. She is likewise part of the team that represented a very prominent foreign investor before the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) involving a multi-billion dollar cross-border claim against one of the largest conglomerates in the Philippines.
Karla also has extensive experience in assisting lawmakers in their legislative duties, policy advocacy and election work. Recently, she led a team of lawyers responsible for having two party-lists duly accredited and registered, consequently allowing them to participate in the 2016 and 2019 Philippine national elections.
She was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2010. She obtained her law degree from the University of the Philippines in 2009, where she was awarded the Gonzalo T. Santos, Jr. Prize for Best Paper in Securities Law. She earned a Bachelor of Science Psychology degree, from the same university.
