Atty. San Pedro has over eight (8) years of working experience in IP law. Her practice focuses on trademark prosecution and litigation.
She assists in maintaining the extensive trademark portfolio of V&A Law’s top local and foreign IP clients, including BigHit Entertainment Co., Ltd.’s (now HYBE Corporation/BigHit Music Co., Ltd.) “BTS” marks. She also handles other IP-related or IP-adjacent work such as IP commercialization, licensing and franchising; copyright and broadcast rights; over-the-top (OTT) and online-content-curated (OCC) services; e-commerce promotion and advertisement; data protection; and FDA regulatory requirements. She has previously advised foreign fintech and media clients in relation to the local roll-out of their OTT/OCC services.
Danielle also has a strong trademark litigation practice. She successfully defended the Korean brand name, “B. BY BANILA” up to the Philippine Court of Appeals. She has also assisted in vindicating the trademark rights of several foreign brands against bad faith registrations and applications in the Philippines, such as Mystery Ranch, Ltd., Decathlon, Ninja Van, Jarrow Formulas and Paris Croissant Co., Ltd. As part of the team handling the IP enforcement of Petron Corporation’s LPG brand, “GASUL”, Atty. San Pedro assisted in obtaining favourable decisions from the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court regarding the finding of probable cause against individual directors of erring corporations for IP rights violations, and in 2021, a conviction from the regional trial court against directors of one of the largest illegal re-fillers of LPG in the Philippines.
Atty. San Pedro also has experience in handling IP-related mediations and has facilitated the successful amicable settlement for the use of Descorp Inc.’s “QUICKFX” mark in the Philippines, and the co-existence agreement for the use of BDO Unibank, Inc.’s “WE FIND WAYS” catchphrase world-wide.
Atty. San Pedro obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the Ateneo de Manila University where she graduated third in her batch. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in European Studies – International Relations Track, Minor in French from the same university, where she graduated with honors. In 2023, she completed the Certificate Course for Data Protection Officers from the University of the Philippines Open University.
She is a member of the Intellectual Property Association of the Philippines (IPAP), and of the International Trademark Association (INTA) Commercialization of Brands Committee.
