Atty. Efren R. Resurreccion is an Associate with over three years of experience in Corporate and Commercial Law. He is a member of the Firm’s Labor Law Practice Group. Specializing in the fields of land law, government contracts, project finance, energy efficiency and environmental law, Efren is known by members of the Corporate and Commercial Law Department for his deep insights and thorough legal research skills. As a vital member of the team, he is experienced in mergers and acquisitions, contract drafting and contract review.
With a strong understanding of Philippine land law, in 2019 Efren assisted a group of potential investors in the conduct of a legal due diligence on over 100 properties located in central Luzon. In the same year, he also played a key role in the negotiations, signing and implementation of a multi-billion peso land transaction.
In 2020, Efren was an active member of the Firm’s team involved in the negotiations, review and drafting of transaction documents for a multi-billion US Dollar cross-border project financing transaction. Efren regularly assists clients on environmental law matters involving regulations issued by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Laguna Lake Development Authority. He has prepared comprehensive legal advice to clients on a diverse range of environmental law topics including the Philippine Environmental Impact Statement System, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act and the Solid Waste Management Act.
Efren has extensive experience in the field of labor and employment. He regularly advises and assists local and multinational clients on issues concerning labor law, including regulatory compliance, labor standards, employment contracts, reorganizations, employee discipline, labor relations and labor litigation. He is an active contributor to global publications on the topic of employment law and has participated as a lecturer in seminars designed to guide key local and foreign executives and HR practitioners in ensuring compliance with Philippine labor laws.
Efren was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2017 and joined the Firm in the same year. He obtained his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of the Philippines, where he served as an Editor of Volume 88 of the Philippine Law Journal. In 2016, he was awarded the Irene Cortes Prize for Best Paper in Constitutional Law for the paper: Charting the Waters of Constitutional Construction: A Function-Based Framework for Appreciating our Constitutional State Policies, 90 PHIL. L.J. 1, (2016).
