On 7 April 2020, the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (“ECCP”) in partnership with Villaraza & Angangco (the “Firm”) hosted the Webinar: Deep Dive: Navigating Labor Law Issues under the Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Designed to help navigate the rapidly evolving regulations, advisories and proclamations of the Department of Labor and Employment, the Webinar was delivered to a video room of over ninety (90) attendees composed of high level executives, legal staff and human resources managers from all over the Philippines.

The first segment of the Webinar featured Asec. Dominique Rubia-Tutay (“Asec. Tutay”), OIC-Assistant Secretary of the Employment and General Administration Cluster of the Department of Labor and Employment (“DOLE”), who gave a detailed discussion on the DOLE’s COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (“CAMP”).

The second segment of the Webinar featured the Firm’s Atty. Rashel Ann C. Pomoy (“Atty. Pomoy”), a senior associate of the Firm’s Labor Law Department, who delivered a comprehensive presentation which walked employers through: (a) the background of the enhanced community quarantine, (b) flexible work arrangements and temporary closures, (c) work compensation, benefits, and holiday pay, (d) government mandated contributions, (e) reporting obligations, (f) redundancies, retrenchments and closures, as well as (g) best practices for the implementation and next steps in addressing COVID-19 related issues in the workplace.

After each segment, each speaker was given time to respond to questions from the audience, with the Q&A segment moderated by Atty. Maria Concepcion P. Simundac, a partner at the Firm.
