On 08 April 2020, Villaraza & Angangco Law, through donations from its legal and non-legal personnel, distributed 415 face shields, 1000 pairs of gloves and 20 gallons of alcohol to the medical personnel and staff of the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) and the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital (TPDH) who are in need of personal protective equipment (“PPE”). The Firm also aims to distribute much-needed surgical and N95 masks in the next few days. 

 

At the time of the donation, NCMH had a total of 39 confirmed COVID-19 cases, while TPDH’s COVID wards were at full capacity. Reports from healthcare professionals indicate that 3-12 PPE sets are used for the treatment of each COVID-positive patient each day, depending on the conservation measures implemented by the hospital. This does not take into account PPE usage for laboratories, testing rooms, emergency rooms and intake areas. 

 

This is the first wave of the Firm’s efforts to contribute to the nation’s battle against COVID-19.
